James Odle, Jr. and Kathie Reyer,
two of our staff
members, live and work in the greater Houston area, the potential
target for the heaviest damage when Hurricane Ike strikes sometime
before Saturday morning. James and Kathie, our thoughts and
prayers are with
you and your families, that everyone will make it through this
safely and with as little property damage as possible.
God Bless, James & Kathie! And God Bless to all of the rest
of the people
who are having to evacuate!
Good Morning, America!
Welcome to Believing In America!
My name is Jace
Carlton, and I'm very excited to announce the launch of our new site!
Our goal is to become the PREMIERE site
on the web for the Voice of Conservative America, and we're excited
about that challenge!
Each issue will feature a
commentary on current issues, updates on important issues, a variety of
stories and letters from readers like you, sharing the greatness of
America!
President Ronald Reagan said, "If
you're afraid of the future, then get out of the way, stand
aside. The people are ready to move again." Believing In
America! is dedicated and committed to bringing our readers the very
best is commentary and results from the work we're doing to maintain
and strengthen our hard-fought-for constitutional freedoms.
But freedom isn't free; it
requires commitment and action. Our commitment is coupled with
the actions we, you and our staff, will take together on this
site. We invite our readers to join us in sharing messages of
hope, strength, and courage.
Our heroes are found everywhere,
in every walk of life. We find them not only on the battlefields
around the world, but also in our homes, teaching our children what's
RIGHT about America. We see it in business where true leaders
assure that their companies are doing what's right, not only for their
customers, but also for their own employees, BEFORE they feel they've
earned their own paycheck. We see it in sports, when coaches work
diligently, believing in their athletes, inspiring them in positive
ways to strive for
their highest potential. We see it in our own villages, towns and
cities with the many people from all walks of life who volunteer to
assist others.
We invite you to share your
stories of people you know, from family members to neighbors, from your
boss, co-worker or secretary to your coach or teammate. We want
to hear from the soldiers on the front line and their commanders, from
the wives & husbands, sons & daughters, brothers and sisters at
home, bravely working hard to keep their families together. We also
want to hear from members in our military NOT serving on the front
line, but still dedicated and committed to serving America and
preserving our freedoms.
Believing in America! is YOUR web
magazine, a place for your voice to be heard. Let us know what
you think and let us know what you'd like to see in the future.
The USS New York LPD-21 was
built with 24 tons of scrap steel from the
World Trade Center.
It
is the
fifth in a new class of warship - designed for missions that include
special
operations against terrorists. It will carry a crew of 360 sailors and
700
combat-ready Marines to be delivered ashore by helicopters and assault
craft.
Steel
from
the World Trade Center was
melted down in a foundry in
Amite, LA to cast the ship's bow
section. When it was poured into the molds on Sept. 9, 2003, "those big
rough
steelworkers treated it with total reverence," recalled Navy Capt.
Kevin
Wensing, who was there. "It was a spiritual moment for everybody there."
Junior
Chavers, foundry operations manager, said that when the trade center
steel
first arrived, he touched it with his hand and the "hair on my neck
stood up."
"It had a big meaning to it for all of us," he said. "They knocked us
down.
They can't keep us down. We're going to be back."
The ship's
motto? "Never Forget"

"Proud To Be An American"
by
Vijay Kumar
Dear
Friends,
Before
immigrating to America 29 years ago, as a foreign worker, I witnessed
the fall of Iran into the totalitarian state it has become. The
political struggle that now exists in India, the land where I was born,
began
with some of the same compromises I see happening in the American
congress.
Democrats seem to believe
that multi-culturalism is more important than assimilation. The America
I came to know and love has always welcomed immigrants and I believe
that is
still true today. But by opening our doors to those who come here
illegally,
by opening our doors to those who do not wish to learn our language, by
opening our doors to people who want to make America in their image
rather than
become Americans, I believe that the liberals in office who allow such
things
are in violation of their oath to protect and defend this nation
against all
enemies foreign and domestic. And I believe it is the responsibility of
a
civilized nation to exercise their vote to remove such politicians from
power or
suffer the consequences of being defeated from within. read more ...
"What The Flag
Means To Me" by
Kyra Wells O'Connor 10 years old

Every
day when I walk to school I see the American flag. I think of
what it symbolizes and the brave troops that fight and give their lives
to keep us safe. I also think of the pledge and how it means that
we promise to be loyal to the flag. The flag means we are free
and have liberty.
When I see the American Flag I think of the troops who fight to keep us
safe and how very brave they are. As we speak, the troops in Iraq
are giving their lives for us. They're helping us keep our
freedom. As well as the troops who fought in all the other
wars. Especially the Revolutionary War. If It wasn't for
them we wouldn't have the American flag, and we would still have to
take orders from Great Britain. read more ...

"The Honor of Being A Military Wife"
by
Gail Johnson
It all started in 1994 when I married a United
States Navy corpsman. Growing up in a family where each and every male
was in one branch of the military or another I suppose I was
destined for being close to it in one form or another myself. Little
did I know it would be as a military wife. What an experience! I can
truly say, though my days as a military wife ended a few years ago, I
will forever carry with me that
I was a part of something so amazing, witnessed and experienced for
myself, a
deep-rooted love and support for country and those that have been a
part of defending our flag, and everything we as Americans stand for.
It is a part of my life that has added to
the person I am today and reaffirms the tearful-at-the-“Star Spangled
Banner”-mush that I have always been.
My journey through military wifedom started with my leaving California,
essentially everyone and everything I had ever known, to begin a newly
married life with my navy corpsman husband on the opposite side of the
planet. Okinawa to be exact. I knew a total of three people when I
arrived on “the rock”, as it is commonly referred to - my husband and
two of his friends. That's it, no one else. But almost immediately I
realized I was
about to become part of a family of sorts within the military community
that I otherwise never would have known. read more ...

Truth, The Whole Truth,
and nothing BUT the Truth
(coming soon)
“Being
an American”
“In the first place,
we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith
becomes an American and assimilates himself to us,
he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else,
for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man
because of creed, or birthplace, or origin.
But this is predicated upon the person's becoming in every facet
an American, and nothing but an American.
There can be no divided allegiance here.
Any man who says he is an American, but something else also,
isn't an American at all.
We have room for but one flag, the American flag.
We have room for but one language here,
and that is the English language.
And we have room
for but one sole loyalty
and that is a loyalty to the American people.”
Theodore Roosevelt 1907
"Above
all, we must realize that no arsenal, or no weapon in the arsenals of
the world, is so formidable as the will and moral courage of free men
and women. It is a weapon our adversaries in today's world do not have."
President Ronald Reagan
